                                                            Schedule

8:00-8:30                Bus Breakfast Bathroom
Students come in off the bus and immediately go to the classroom and put up their backpacks.  They go into the cafeteria and eat breakfast practicing eating skills and language skills.  They go to the restroom and practice self help skills such as dressing, toileting, washing hands and face.  All of this is done on a schedule.

8:30-9:00                Circle Time
Students sit in a circle and participate in songs and games.  They participate the best to their ability by imitating hand movements and using verbal language if they are able.  Calendar skills, language, imitation, and movement skills are practiced during this time. Some children go to general ed kindergarten for circle time with an aide.  Eventually the child is able to go on their own to kinder if behavior allows.

9:00-11:00         Learning Lab
Students are paired in twos or on a one on one basis and rotate from center to center.  Each center lasts for 30 minutes.  There is an adult at each center working on specific IEP goals.  Data is taken at each center. Every Friday the teachers look at the data taken and interpret it to percentages for the progress reports.  Data is taken to ensure that goals are being met.  If a child is not making progress on a certain goal, the parent is notified and an ARD is called.  The centers are:

Math—each child works on individual math skills according to the IEP.  Some skills a child works on are number ID, counting, adding and subtracting, coin ID, patterns, shapes, reading number words, etc.
Tasks—each child is given a series of tasks to perform.  Tasks include, puzzles, sorting, matching, file folder games, job related tasks, life skill type activities, assembly line, etc.
Art—each child works on different art projects according to the thematic unit of the week or season of the year.  Cutting, coloring, gluing, glitter, etc. is emphasized.  Children participate to the best of their ability.  Some need more help than others but the teacher is NOT doing the work.
Writing—each child works on writing, tracing, cutting, coloring, and other fine motor activities according to the IEP.  The OT works in this center making sure that IEp goals are being done effectively.
Language—this center focuses on all aspects of language.  Verbal and n on verbal skills are worked on.  Receptive and expressive language is stressed.  Sign language and imitating is taught.  Turn taking is taught and answering questions are taught as well.  The speech therapist works with the children and teaceher during this time.
Reading—basic beginning reading is taught in this center.  At any level reading is introduced to the student.  Letter ID, letter matching, sounds, sight word recognition and sight word books are taught.  The Edmark sight word reading program is taught on the computer to some students.
Socialization—in this center children learn how to play simple games and follow simple directions.  Board games, sharing, structured toy play with the adult is also taught.  Learning to turn take in conversation is also emphasized.
Computer—children work on educational games with an adult.  Most IEP goals are reinforced in a computer activity.
Motor Lab—this is fun rotation for the students.  In this center children ride the trike, play ball, walk on the balance beam, jump rope, jump on the trampoline and playing simple gross motor games are taught.
