Welcome to English IV !!! We have already accomplished a lot and we will continue to throughout the year. We discussed careers and college admissions. Students that plan to go to college need to check and see if the SAT or ACT test is required at the school they plan to apply to. If one of those tests is required the student needs to sign up for the test and, of course, take it.
Each week we build high-level vocabulary. The lesson is discussed and worked on each Monday. Students are quizzed on the words each Friday. We also build college level vocabulary with SAT words daily.
We learned the proper format for writing a business letter and we are learning how to create a professional quality resume'. Each student is reading a novel for a book report assignment which is due October 31. These assignments are major grades.
We began our studies of British Literature with the Anglo-Saxon time period and read Beowulf. Next we will study the Medieval Times and read Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. We completed book reports for a major grade on the 2nd nine week's report card.
Canterbury Tales presentations will be Nov. 19th-21st.
Attendance is very important in my class!!! Please be sure your child is in school every day possible.
I am looking forward to a wonderful academic year !!!
