Other 3rd Grade Information
Lunch-Your child’s lunch number is also their student ID number, AR password and library number. They will have this number until 12th grade in any CISD school. Prepayment is available on your child’s account. Please try to keep up with the balance or go online to the CISD website and sign up for parent access on View-it to view your child’s account to ensure they have money for lunch. If your child runs out of money they will be given an alternative lunch (usually a sandwich and water). Please come eat with us anytime after October 1st. You may meet us in the cafeteria. Feel free to bring lunch with you (Sonic, McDonald’s, etc.)
Attendance-It is very important to be on time to school each day! Tardies are taken after announcements are over. If your child is absent, please send a note with them upon returning to school so that it may be determined if the absence is excused or unexcused. If your child arrives late (after 8:05) or leaves early (before 3:05) without a doctor’s note verifying an appointment, it will be counted against their perfect attendance certificate for the nine weeks.
Homework Folders-They are sent home Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The homework schedule is attached in the homework folder. Our homework will remain the same for the entire year. Homework expectations are in the 3rd grade handbook. Please review with your child.
Tuesday Folders-The red “Cougar” folder is sent home on Tuesdays with conduct and graded work. ***Work that is graded and has a “circle” around the grade, is a grade that has been recorded in the grade book. Often times there will be other assignments that will be graded or checked over for completion and understanding of the concept being taught. Please look over all assignments and sign and return any assignment below a 70. All other assignments should be taken out of the folder and kept at home. Please sign and return the folder the next day.
Rainy Day Dismissal-Students who ride their bike or walk to school will need to have an alternative transportation route if it is raining at dismissal. We will NOT be calling parents when it is raining. If there is an unexpected change in transportation, please call the front office and use your pass word to ensure your child gets home the correct way that day.
Conferences-Our conference time is from 10:20-11:20am. We will try to schedule all beginning of the year conference via phone or in person before November 1, 2007. On October 26th, we will be having an “early release” for students. This is a great time to meet with some parents if your schedules permit.
