DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS
April 18, 2008
        1.  The school dance is coming up on May 23rd.  If you have not brought your books to your teachers to be checked, you will not be able to attend the dance.  We want everyone to have fun at the last dance, so bring in your books if you have not already done so.
        2.  There has been a lot of buzz about the Talent Show, but some of the interested parties have not signed up.....if you plan on being in the Talent Show, you must sign up by Friday afternoon.  Sign up sheets are in Mrs. Higgs' room, so make sure you sign up by tomorrow.
        3.  Girls soccer team beat Moorehead JH by a score of 2-0 last night for their first win of the season.  Goal scorers were Kristina Wear and Nicole Aitchison.  the whole team played tough and we got some valuable experience.  Our next game will be next Thursday April 24 at 6:00 here at Peet against Knox JH.  
        4.  The Peet boys soccer team beat Moorhead last night 2-0. Miguel Guevara and Victor Reyes each had a goal. Other offensive standouts were Connor Black, Nathan Darko, and Eric Torres. The defenive shutout was led by Miguel Marmelejo. The defense had a great night, only allowing a few shots on goalkeeper Will Paulhill. Other defensive standouts were Dylan Beaton, Roy Smith and Frank Villela. The Cubs play Knox next Thursday at Peet. Hope to see you there.
        5.  Yesterday, the Peet tennis team took on McCullough at Conroe High School.  The team played well and went to many tie breakers in the tourney.  The team of Brian Hobbs and Brandon Lauer won their match 4-2.  The team of Paublo Salinas and Kent Bailey won their first match 4-2 and won their 2nd match in a tie breaker 4-3.  GOOD JOB TENNIS TEAM!
        6.  All theatre students attending the Tournament tomorrow at Oak Ridge need to attend todays meeting from 4:00 to 5:00.  Officers need to stay until 5:30 to finish packing.

        1.  The Student Leadership Academy applications are due back to the Counseling Center tomorrow - Friday.  Don't miss out on this wonderful opportuity.  Be sure to bring your signed application to the counseling center by Friday afternoon.
        2.  Attention ALL future Dancing Dolls.  There will be a mandatory parent meeting held today in the LGI at 6pm.  Those trying out for officer need to turn in their binders.  Applications can picked up and turned in to Ms. Snider in room 426.

        1.  Don't miss the Talent Show meeting after school today in the LGI at 4:15.  Important information regarding how to earn a spot in the show will be given out.  Make sure you attend if you want your time in the spotlight.

        1.  Do you act, sing, dance or play a musical instrument?  If so, you may want to perform in Peet's Talent Show which is scheduled for the end of May.......If you think you deserve time in the spotlight and are ready to compete for the winning trophy, make sure you attend the Talent Show meeting next Tuesday in the LGI @ 4:15.  Meeting will be over by 5:00pm.
        2.  7th Grade Reading tutorials will be on Tuesday and Wednesday.
        3.  Peet Chamber Orchestra participated at the annual Galveston Isle Orchestra Festival this past Saturday.   This is the 18th year for this particular event.   Mrs. Baldwin wants to congratulate each and every member of the orchestra.  They did a fabulous job!  They received all one's a SUPERIOR RATING, and a very large trophy.  Way to go Peet CHAMBER ORCHESTRA.  I am so very very proud of all of you!   From:  Mrs. Baldwin.
        4.  On Friday the Peet Wind Ensemble performed in the Conroe ISD Varsity Band Assessment at Caney Creek High School.  The Wind Ensemble had a terrific performance and received a first division superior rating from all three judges.  Mrs. Blackiston is very proud of all the members of the Wind Ensemble for their hard work and dedication this school year.  The Wind Ensemble will compete in one more contest this school year, the UIL Varsity Band Concert and Sight Reading Contest in May.  Also, Mrs. Blackiston and Mr. Jones would like to thank Coach Woodum for driving the bands to this contest Friday afternoon and to Mrs. Gathright for covering our 5th period band class.  A big Thank You to the wonderful  teachers who covered Coach Woodum's class.

        2.   The Bleacher Creatures are proud to announce that the eighth graders once again donated more money to the American Cancer Society.
        Come on 7th graders!!! Today is your last chance to show how much you care.  We'll find out this afternoon at the assembly which class made a larger contribution.

        The Academy will begin June 9 and run through June 12 from 9 am to 4 pm at the Central Administration Building on West Davis.  Seventh grade students from all junior highs will be participating.  Students must provide their own transporation.
        Space is limited so you must complete an application and turn it in by April 15th.  Applications can be picked up in the Counseling Center and be returned there as well.

        1.  The 8th grade won the "Quarters for a Cure" contest again yesterday with a very generous donation from one young man.  Come on 7th graders!!!  Don't let the 8th graders win.  Show that you care about finding a cure by making a donation today and tomorrow.  The winning class be be announced at the assembly on Friday.  Thanks to everyone who has donated so far.

        1.  Attention Bleacher Creatures
Don't forget to wear your shirt tomorrow.  We will meet after school to decorate the luminary bags for the Relay for Life.  All teachers are invited to join us.
        2.  The competition is very close, but the 8th graders are currently in the lead for the most money raised for the American Cancer Society.  Come on 7th graders!  Here is your chance to beat the 8th grade! The Bleacher Creatures will be on stage all week during lunches to accept your donations.  The winning class will be announced at the Pep Rally on Friday.

        7.  There will be no reading tutorials today for 7th graders. Ms. Hedges will notify you when the make-up sessions will be. 7th Grade Reading tutorials will be on schedule next Tuesday and Wednesday.
        8. Attention all theatre students attending the April 19th tournament at Oakridge.  
        Fees for the tournament are past due.  All students who have not paid their fees must see Ms. Merritt sometime today or you will be dropped from the competition.

        1.  The Bleacher Creatures are sponsoring a friendly competition between the 7th and 8th graders.  It is called "Quarters for a Cure".   Please contribute your coins on the stage at lunch.  Let's see which class can make a bigger contributions to the American Cancer Society.
        2.  Due to the Math TAKS Test tomorrow, we will not have History Study Group today. We will see you next week.
        3.  On Tuesday, April 8th, anyone interested in playing soccer needs to meet in the large gym from 4:15-5:00. In order to come to the meeting you must have a physical on file or have one with you and have passed all your classes. Anyone not following the criteria above will be asked to leave. Late busses will be available or you must be picked up no later than 5:15. If you cannot get picked up before 5:15 you must ride the late bus. Anyone picked up after 5:15 could lose their playing privilege. This is a mandatory meeting. If you do not come you do not play!
