Author of the week: Robert Munsch
Mr. Munsch lives in Guelph, Ontario with his wife and children, and a dog. He has been telling stories for many years and sepecially enjoys making them up in front of an audience of young people.
In Language Arts, we are working on letter names and sounds,sight words, concepts about print, letter formation, and writing our name.

Expectations of students in Kindergarten by the end of the year:
To be able to identify the name and sound of all uppercase and lowercase letters of the alphabet
To be able to use letters and sounds to write a story that has meaning and sequence
To read 30 high frequencey words and spell them correctly in their story writing
To understand the concepts of print
To read emergent reading books to a minimum level of 3
To rote count to 100
To sort by different attributes
To extend, create, and identify different patterns
To identify and write numerals to 20
To create sets of objects 0-10 and identify sets of objects 0-20
To have a basic understanding of time by the hour, basic coins, addition, and subtration

Practice letter chart : Say name of letter, sound, and picture. Read sight word book.

*Read Sight Word Book sent home each Monday.
Wednesday
Math homework found in the math folder. Do only the pages assigned
and leave pages in the workbook. Do not tear out. Return workbook inside the folder on Thursday.
Thursday
Read: Second Sight Word book to parents, pointing to each word as you read.
If you did not the complete work in class, underline the "Star" word on each page and color the pictures.
Practice sight word flash cards.
