A note from Coach Corley...10/27/07
If you are a parent reading this please encourage your students to listen in class and come to class prepared. Everything we learn from now until TAKS time will be very important. I stress that the students can not take one day off, we need to work hard every day.
Thanks!
*CLASS ASSIGNMENTS/OBJECTIVES FORTHE WEEK
10/29-11/9
We are working hard towards our goal of 100% passing the TAKS test. Our first Benchmark is going to be early in November. Students need to begin preparing for this important evaluation of what they have learned so far.
We are going to begin learning the test taking strategy of QAR's-Question Answer relationships. This strategy will help students to better understand the questions they are asked.
We are also going to continue practicing reading aloud and developing an effective essay.
*TESTS
*This section lists any major tests given over a two week period.
We will have our next BENCHMARK test in early November.
The BENCHMARK test will cover reading and writing.
*SPECIAL PROJECT S
NO special projects listed as of 10/27/07
*At least once every nine weeks students will be assigned a special project to complete. Students will be given ample notice before a project is due. The due date along with a description of projects will be posted here.

About Me: I recieved my Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Sam Houston State University in December of 2004. Soon after, acquiring my certification from the state. I have worked with children most of my adult life through coaching and teaching. I am not only a Language Arts teacher at Washington, but I coach Football as well. I think the most important thing about education is finding what makes each individual student shine and allowing that light to burn as bright as it can. My philosophy can be applied from the classroom to the playing field. We all learn differently, but together, with a little hard work, we can get the best out of each and every student.
