Important Information for the 2007-2008 School Year

Attendance Information For Parents

Studies show that there is a direct correlation between achievement in school and attendance in school.  In addition to assuring the success of your student, it is important that you are well informed of what the State of Texas requires of the school and you, as the parents.
State and district policies state that an excused absence is one in which a note from a doctor is provided.  Although a doctor appointment is still considered an absence, it is excused and will not count against the student in determining when the school is required to report the absences to authorities.  Any student who arrives after the official start of the day, 8:05 AM, but before 9:00 AM is considered tardy, not absent.  Any student who arrives after 9:00 AM is considered absent for the entire day.  Any excuses for absences should be turned in to the front office.
When a student misses three unexcused days within a four week period, or ten unexcused days within a six month period, teachers will send a note home to inform the parents of the status of absences.  Once the student has missed ten unexcused days during the present school year, a second note will go home notifying parents of an attendance meeting that is required to take place with the attendance committee.  Finally, the State law says that when a student misses 18 unexcused days, they must be considered for retention the following school year, and the Assistant Principal is required to file the absences with the Truancy Court in Montgomery County.  Parents and students who have their cases filed will be required to appear in court.
Once a student is enrolled in school, they must abide by compulsory attendance laws; therefore, a student in Pre-Kindergarten is required to abide by the same attendance policies as a student in fourth grade.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding the attendance policy, please feel free to contact the Assistant Principal, Jamie Bone.

Cafeteria Information

Students will receive a calendar menu to take home so that parents can be informed of what will be served each day at school.  Regular lunch meals will remain $2 for students and $2.75 for adults.  Student breakfasts will remain $1 each and adult breakfasts will be $1.25.  Students are issued 6 digit PIN numbers (only new students to the district will receive new numbers), so cafeteria money can be kept on accounts accessed through these numbers.  School aides will assist kindergarten and pre-kindergarten students with accessing their PIN numbers.
Cafeteria balances are available online at the Conroe I.S.D. website through Parent View-It using the student’s six digit PIN number, and parents can pay by credit card online, if they wish to add money to their student’s account.  Parents may also add money to cafeteria accounts with cash or by check, but no checks under the amount of $25 will be accepted by the cafeteria.  Students who are not on the Free Lunch Program and who do not have money for lunch will receive a free alternative meal.
