I am Cindy Lentz and I serve as the principal of Austin Elementary. I have over twenty years of experience in education. I graduated from the University of Houston with a business related degree. I received my teaching degree and Masters of Education in Administration from Sam Houston State University . During my teaching career, I have taught fourth, fifth, and sixth grade.
My family and I have lived in Magnolia for over twenty years. Before that, we both were born and raised in Houston , Texas . My husband is a finance director for a car dealership and we have one son who is attending college.
As a team of administrators, teachers, parents, and community members, we work together to create a community where everyone comes together to promote learning. Our teachers are leaders who work together as teams to provide a climate that is communicative, just, disciplined, and caring. Our first priority is building positive, meaningful, appropriate relationships with our students. We know children will learn more and work harder when children know that teachers genuinely care. Our staff believes in high expectations for all students and that every child will be successful in ways that are reflective of his or her own abilities and interests. We strive to establish strong partnerships with parents because we know that parents are the first and most important teachers of our children. We know that our children are the
promise of our future; therefore, we have a passion to ensure that each child become a successful, productive citizen and future leader of our society.
I found this quote that clearly communicates my beliefs about schools.
My Idea of School
By John H. Childs
I believe our schools ought to be like:
Harvard -with a strong academic curriculum
Like West Point-with excellent discipline
Like Disneyland -with organized, positive excitement for children.
