TAKS TESTING: This Wednesday, March 5th is the
ELA (English Language Arts) TAKS Test.
Please make sure that your student is
well rested and ready to test. Chic-fil-a sandwiches and drinks and snacks will be
provided! If your student is allergic
to peanut oil, please send them to school with their own sack lunch and
snack. UPCOMING AP TESTING: All students currently in Advanced
Placement classes are expected to sign up for the AP tests given May 5th
through May 16th. The tests
will ONLY cost $5.00 per test this year, as opposed to $45.00 and up last
year. This is your student’s chance to
place out of College Classes by gaining college credit as a high school
student. Sign up now before school, during lunch and after school in the Book
Room (Room 165). Do
not let your student miss this opportunity! PRE-REGISTRATION: Students
are now choosing their classes for next year.
Parents, please be an active participant in this process. Students are to turn in their
pre-registration forms to their English Teachers on Thursday, March 13th. OPERATION SCIENCE: Every Wednesday afternoon from 2:45 – 4:30, the science department is providing a program called Operation Science. It is an activity based TAKS review tutorial. Snacks and late bus transportation are provided. Students are having a great time learning, getting together and completing experiments that are based on concepts tested on TAKS-Science. The atmosphere is relaxed and many students have commented that they just love the “hands-on” approach we have developed! HOME ACCESS CENTER (HAC): Home Access Center (HAC) is the new CISD parent access system, which now provides online access to all your child’s class assignments, assignment grades, test grades, as well as attendance, discipline, schedules, progress reports, and report cards. Please see the CISD homepage for more information and registration. THE FLARE YEARBOOK: Yearbooks may be purchased either in the Main Office or in the Flare Office (Room 201) until 1:00 each day through April 4th. Purchase price is $65.00. Remember….April 4th is the deadline to purchase this year’s Flare. Reserve yours today! Yearbooks will be delivered in late May. PRACTICE BUS EVACUATION: The
State of Texas has mandated that all public school students and faculty must
be trained and drilled on safe bus evacuation. On Thursday, December 6th,
CHS had a drill and students wore pants or shorts rather than skirts to make
the drill easier. This drill included classroom instruction (video) and
an actual bus evacuation. These drills are required twice a year and
absent students will be required to make-up the TRAINING. PTA Information PTA INFORMATION: Be involved, be a Member! Together we CAN make a difference! for Tomorrow Alliance Information EFTA:
Attention 11th Graders! Great Career Connection! Education for
Tomorrow Alliance offers a 2 week, unpaid professional internship in nearly
75 businesses in Montgomery County in the month of June. If you want
the opportunity to see what a professional does in his or her every day work
life, this is you chance! Applications and
information will be available in the career centers in mid-January, or on the
EfTA website at www.efta-us.org Counselor’s Corner (College Board School Code: 441-470)
SAT DATES: 5/3, 6/7 at TWHS. Pre-registration is required. Please see SAT registration packet for more
information and deadlines.

STUDENT INFORMATION: For various reasons families may want to restrict the District from providing directory information to its vendors and service providers who need student information in order to provide a certain service to the District or school. For example, school picture photographers need student names and identification numbers for school pictures, AND the PTO/PTA may need student names and photographs to prepare the campus yearbook. Federal law and District policy permits the District to give the following information to such vendors and service providers: parent(s) names, student’s name, address, telephone number, school attending, photograph, grade level, degrees and honors received, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, and weight and height, if a member of an athletic team. If you do not want your child's information shared with vendors and service providers, colleges and universities, military recruiters, and newspapers including positive press releases to the media, yearbook staff, photographers and the like, you must submit the "Education Record Restriction Form" to your campus principal no later than September 15th.
