Skills USA-VICA is designed for students in technical, skilled and service careers, including health careers. It's designed for students and is run by students. Each member will develop into a well-rounded person with technical, academic and "employability" skills, that not only help the member to get a job but also to have a successful career.

Students are required to be enrolled in a vocational field, have an ultimate career goal in mind, and maintain good grades in school. After the active club members elect officers, the president assigns meeting dates, usually every other week. Dues are $15.00 that are applied toward national and state dues.

Each year chapters compete against each other to be named outstanding chapter. The outstanding chapter must uphold the ideals of SkillsUSA-VICA, excel in promoting high standards in trade ethics, workmanship, scholarship and safety. They must be able to plan together, organize and carry out worthy activities and projects through the use of the democratic process, create an enthusiasm for learning and help attain a purposeful life.
