MODEL UNITED NATIONS

Model UN provides an opportunity for students to learn about the political, economic, and social world in which they live. In Model United Nations, typically a country is selected and researched---background, history, and domestic and foreign policy. The students participate in a simulated conference where they role-play as delegates and citizens of their chosen country. They attempt to solve problems and deal with orchestrated world and regional crises, which the conference organizers prepare for their experience. This gives them experience in diplomacy, caucusing for support, problem solving, and public speaking.

All students are welcome. Some activities include lock-ins, attending the Houston Area Model UN Conference in February, and a second out-of-state conference in the fall or spring.
