The Washington Junior High School T.V. Broadcasting calss is a course that infuses ten students into the world of news broadcasting and feature programming. Stuents who have shown the necessary aptitude and character during their 7th grade school year are issued an application for the following year's news team. Approximately 30 students are put through the application process with only ten making the final cut. The final ten are given a contract that they and their parents sign. These ten students learn the fundamentals of news broadcasting including the technical and journalistic sides of the4 profession. They are a part of the team for their entire 8th grade year. The team will produce approximately 63 broadcasts over the course of a normal school year with numerous special features. The T.V. Broadcasting course has its own studio and modular to broadcast on Channel Eight every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the entire school. This learning environment is as real as it gets with deadlines, technical challenges and performance pressures.
