I believe that reading is the most important skill that any person can learn.  My goal as a librarian is not to teach students how to read, but to love to read.  To quote Mark Twain, "The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who can't read them".

I graduated from Milby High School in Houston (Go Buffs!) and then attended Sam Houston State University where I received my bachelors degree in 1991. After teaching science for 5 years, my love for literature overcame my enjoyment of science and I returned to SHSU to complete my Masters degree in Library Science.  I have 12 years experience as a librarian in elementary, intermediate and junior high school levels. As a science teacher, I was named "teacher of the year" and as a librarian, I was named "campus humanitarian".  But, the award I am prouded of is being honored by my former students by being named five times to "Who's Who Among America's Teachers".
