The Social Studies Department is truly excited about the 2007-2008 academic year. All our instructors are highly qualified, knowledgeable, and well versed in classroom management. Our department prides itself on maintaining high standards, good morale among colleagues and the best intentions for the academic and emotional well being of all our students. Each of our Social Studies teachers are willing to work with your child so that they can fulfill their potential.
Please know that the rigors of the Social Studies curriculum have intensified due in part to T.A.K.S. expectations. Eighth graders will take the state mandated Social Studies T.A.K.S. test in April of 2008. This social studies test will be a major indicator for our school report card. Once your child is in the 11th grade, he or she will have to pass a Social Studies Exit Examination in order to graduate. By working and pulling together, parents and teachers can work effectively to hone study skills, and emphasize the significance of education to the future of out students at Booker T. Washington Junior High.
Please feel free to call or E-mail any of the Social Studies teachers if you have suggestions or concerns.
