I
have been fortunate to spend my career in education in the Conroe Independent
School District. After earning a
Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education at Sam Houston State
University, I continued there pursuing a Masters Degree in Educational
Administration. In 1998, I received a
doctorate in Educational Administration at Texas A&M University. My teaching career included six years in
third and fifth grade at Austin Elementary and Reaves Intermediate. In 1980, I became the Assistant Principal at
Oak Ridge Elementary, then three years later was named the Principal at that
school. In 1998, I moved to Hailey
Elementary as the Principal.
Hailey
Elementary is a wonderful school nestled in the trees in the Grogan’s Mill
area. The faculty works together for
one common goal and that is the success of every child in this school. Our diversity is a strength that we truly
embrace at Hailey. Every child is
important and unique.
We are celebrating the fact that Hailey
Elementary is an EXEMPLARY school. I am
so proud of all of our teachers – it begins in Pre-Kindergarten and
Kindergarten where your children gain a firm educational foundation. It is a team effort for success when parents
support the teachers and the school by working together. Thanks for your help in making Hailey an
EXEMPLARY school!
Hailey
would not be the wonderful school that it is without all of our hardworking
staff and volunteers. Thanks goes out
to all that truly make a difference in the quality of education your children
receive!
Hailey
Elementary was named after Mr. Sam K. Hailey, a school board member and local
pharmacist. When the doors opened in
1978, there were only 3,600 people living in The Woodlands. Hailey was originally built as an open
concept school without walls between the classrooms. Over the years, Hailey has evolved to follow the progressive
educational standards set by the high expectations of our community and
state. Our diversity is a strength that
we embrace at Hailey. The demographics
from 2006-2007 indicate Hailey’s diversity as 73.2% White; 16.4% Hispanic; 8.4%
African American; 2.0% Asian. The
scores from the 2007 TAKS were impressive!
Hailey achieved outstanding results, as follows: 96.5% reading; 96% writing and 97.5%
math.
Ongoing
campus improvements include playground equipment purchased by the PTA that is
aesthetically pleasing, age appropriate, and in compliance with current safety
standards. The interior of Hailey
continues to reflect the warm and supportive environment that exists with our
caring staff.
