What are the hours the school is in session?

 School begins at 8:05 a.m. until 3:05 p.m.

 

What must I do to enroll my Pre-Kindergarten  

child at Hailey?

Your child must be four years old on or before Sept. 1st of the current school year.  Children qualify for the Pre-K program either as being economically disadvantaged, as Limited English proficient, a military family, or Homeless.  You must furnish proof of residency (lease contract or utility/cable bill); birth certificate; social security card; immunization record (including Hepititis B series and immunization or history of Chicken Pox); the last two pay stubs; and a report card/withdrawal form from previous school, if applicable.

 

What must I do to enroll my Kindergarten child at Hailey?

What should I do if I need to withdraw my child from Hailey?

The school must be notified at least two days before your child's last day so the paperwork will be ready.  Be sure all textbooks and library books are returned, and lunch charges have been paid.

 

When does my child eat lunch?

Pre-Kindergarten - 12:10 - 12:40

Kindergarten - 11:10 - 11:40

1st grade - 11:00 - 11:30

2nd grade - 12:00 - 12:30

3rd grade - 11:30 - 12:00

4th grade - 11:40 - 12:10

 

When can I schedule a conference with my child's teacher?

Call the office to schedule the conference with the school secretary.  The conference times are:

Kindergarten – 1:00 to 1:55

1st grade - 1:55 to 2:50

2nd grade – 10:00 to 10:55

3rd grade - 9:05 to 10:00

4th grade - 8:10 to 9:05

 

 

 

What are the attendance guidelines?

The official attendance time 9:00 a.m.  Students are counted absent at that time, unless they arrive at school later and have a letter from a physician stating they were in the doctor's office during that time.

 

Texas state law requires that students must be in attendance for a minimum of 90% of the instructional days per year in order to be promoted.  Good attendance habits begin in Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten.  Excessive absences may affect your child's success in school.  Students may be retained as a result of failure to follow the state mandated attendance requirements.

 

May I change the way my child goes home?

Yes, you must notify the office BEFORE 2:30 p.m. that day so the message can be delivered to your child's class before dismissal time.

 

Does the library have any parenting materials?

Yes, the library has parenting shelves with books and videos available for parents to check out.  We also have an Accelerated Reader List of titles for parents to check out.

 

Does Hailey have Internet access for teachers and students?

Yes, all classrooms are networked to the Internet.  Conroe Independent School District has an Internet policy that requires students have a parent permission slip on file.  The policy is sent home with the permission slip at the beginning of the new school year.  The CISD network has a firewall that protects the students from questionable sites as well as teacher supervision while students are using the internet.

 

What kind of technology is available at Hailey?

There are at least five computers in each classroom, a Computer Lab that has computers networked to the Internet, scanners, digital cameras, smart numonic boards, LCD projectors, mimeos, document cameras, and CPS systems.

 

What ways can parents get involved in the school?

Hailey has a very active and supportive PTA organization and volunteer program.  Parents can volunteer to help in the library, the Copy Room, with Accelerated Reader, classrooms and grade-level offices.
