P. Stevens - Library Media Specialist
Our
library is on flexible scheduling. All classes do come to check out books
each week at a designated time. Teachers arrange additional times to bring
a large group or an entire class to check out books, use the Internet, research
topics of study, and work on multimedia presentations. Computer instruction
is in our 3 day rotation schedule for all grade levels, K-4.

Media Center Goal
The goal of the library
media program is to provide services that will meet the informational,
cultural, educational, and recreational needs of the David students and
staff. The desired outcome is for everyone to be confident and competent
users of ideas and information and to be able to construct an appropriate,
well-designed presentation from all of these blocks of information.

Calendars
During
the Summer of 2007
Students
at David Elementary participated in a summer reading incentive program titled
David Summer Reader's Hall of Fame. Students had to read at least 3 hours
each week during the summer, keep record on a calendar of their reading minutes,
write 3 summaries/activities about their favorite books, and visit the public
library at least 2 times during the summer. The following list of students

of Fame Members receive a gold medal during a school wide assemply and have
their name included on a plaque which is displayed in the David Library.
One of their book activities is also displayed on a bulletin board in the
library.
