About Bush Elementary

Opened in 1996, Barbara Bush Elementary school has the look of a new modern school, but delivers an established instructional program that supports interdisciplinary curriculum, and state of the art technology integration. Serving grades Kindergarten through Fourth, there are over 700 students at Bush, over 55 certified teaching staff, and nearly 20 paraprofessional staff. Students in grades 1-4 have physical education class daily, as well as music, art or keyboarding. Bush has an extensive library collection which includes both print and electronic sources. Kindergarten at Bush is full day, and students who are five years of age on or before September 1st of that school year can attend Kindergarten.
Bush Elementary is based on an atmosphere of support. Support of students and support of teachers is key to providing the best learning environment for children. Teachers have available to them a support staff of personnel including an assistant principal, a media specialist, and school counselor. Each week teachers meet with this support staff to plan instructional units, and accommodate students' needs. The Conroe Independent School District curriculum is based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, or TEKS, which articulates grade level standards in all subject areas.
At Bush Elementary we see children as individuals with unique needs and interest. We believe that only through close coordination and communication between home and school, and between classes and grade levels, can student learning be maximized. We are proud that the program at Bush not only provides students with a solid foundation of basic knowledge, essential to each discipline, but also provides students opportunities to learn with depth and complexity that stretches their minds, and expands their thinking.
