PTO Membership
Because of the volunteer nature of the PTO, the best way to contact Kaufman PTO is through our email address: kaufmanpto@charter.net. When you send an email, use the Subject line to state the specific topic you would like information about so the email can be routed to the correct committee.
In case of immediate need, you can contact the school at 936-709-7207 or metro: 832-592-5600 and leave a message. School staff will try to contact the PTO.
The PTO meets monthly, generally on the second Monday of the month, at 1:30 pm at the school. All paid members of the PTO are encouraged to attend the regular monthly meetings. Two special Community Forum meetings are held in the evenings. One is scheduled in the Fall and another scheduled in the Spring.
The PTO is composed of Executive Officers, Members at Large and Parent Members. The total membership of Kaufman PTO for the 2006-2007 school year is 382 due paying members. Members of the PTO Board chair committees that organize the various events sponsored by the PTO. Non-board parent members are organized through the Volunteer Coordinators and Room Parents. All members are encouraged to fill out a Volunteer Interest form to indicate the areas they are willing to volunteer.

The membership form is sent home with students at the beginning of every school year. There is a Membership Drive at the beginning of the school year and sign up table at the Meet the Teacher Night and Kaufman Open House. The membership form can also be found at PTO Membership Form or in the front office of the school. You may join the PTO at any time during the school year. Family dues for the 2007 – 2008 school year are $5.00. The classroom with the most families that join by the announced deadline get an ice cream party.
Volunteer interest forms are sent home with the students at the beginning of the school year. You can also volunteer for specific events by contacting your teacher or the Room Parent for your child’s class.
If you are unable to volunteer your time during school hours, many teachers have opportunities for you to help outside of school. There are also many opportunities to supply materials for school wide and grade level events. Contact your teacher or Room Parent for further information.
Also, Kaufman PTO is a 501c3 organization and any donations are tax deductible.
The PTO realizes that not all parents can attend the monthly PTO meetings during school hours. To facilitate communication between the PTO and its members, at least two Community Forums are scheduled per year. These are PTO meetings that occur on weekday evenings. The dates of the Community Forums are posted on the Calendar of Events.
