STOP ON RED - STUDENTS AHEAD

All motorists MUST STOP for a school bus when a School Bus is stopped for purpose of Loading and Unloading students, until the school bus turns off their loading lights.

Here are the rules for various situations:

Divided Streets or Highways

All motorists who are traveling in any of the lanes going in the same direction as the school bus must stop.  Motorists on the street or highway on the opposite side of the median, barrier or unpaved area are not required to stop.

Undivided Streets or Highways

All motorist must stop even in the center turn land and remain stopped until the school bus loading or unloading turns off their loading lights.
 
Under Texas State Law penalties for not stopping for a school bus can bring a fine up to $1000, it is considered a Class C and will go on the drivers record.
