Loading and Unloading the Bus

Students should wait at the correct stop.  Students should not stand in the street, and they should always stay at least 10 feet or 10 giant steps away from the road and the bus.

Students should ALWAYS BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR CARS THAT DO NOT STOP FOR THE BUS LIGHTS!

No food or drinks are allowed on any CISD buses.

The following are basic reminders for all students when loading and unloading a school bus:

When the bus arrives:
bullet Students should not move until the driver gives the signal that it is safe to board the bus.
bullet If the student has to cross the road to get on  the bus, the student should stand away from the road 10 feet or 10 giant steps, and wait until the driver gives the signal that it is safe to cross, the student should look left, right and left to make sure that all of the cars have stopped.
bullet As the students cross in front of the bus, the student should look at the driver.  If the student can see the driver the driver can see the student.
bullet Students should always use the handrail when boarding the bus.
bullet Students should move quickly to their seat and sit down quietly.
bullet Students should put their backpack, band instrument or any other items that they have brought on the bus in their lap.  Students may not sit on backpacks or instruments.   No items may block the aisle or any exit.  (If an instrument does not fit in the students lap, parents must transport the instrument to school).
bullet Students should always stay seated and face forward while riding the bus.
When getting off the bus:
bullet Students should stay seated until the bus comes to a complete stop.
bullet Students should not push or play on the way down the aisle.
bullet Students should always use the handrail when getting off the bus.
bullet Students should not jump over the steps, they should take one step at a time.
bullet Students should watch their straps, drawstrings and any other clothing that might get caught in the door or handrail.
bullet Students should glance back toward the rear of the bus before they step off the bus.  (By glancing back to the rear, they can make sure that no cars are coming around the bus).
bullet If the student has to cross the road to get off the bus, the student should stand away from the road 10 feet or 10 giant steps, and wait until the driver gives the signal that it is safe to cross, the student should look left, right and left to make sure that all of the cars have stopped.
bullet As the students cross in front of the bus, the student should look at the driver.  If the student can see the driver the driver can see the student.
Unloading the bus at school bus ramps:
bullet When the bus pulls into the school bus ramp in the morning, students should remain seated.
bullet The bus driver will release the students one row at a time.
