| When you
are waiting for the school bus, wait at the correct stop. Do not stand
in the street, stay 10 feet or 10 giant steps
away from the road and the bus. |

| When your bus
arrives: |
 |
Do not move until the driver
gives you the signal that it is safe to board the bus. |
 |
If you have to cross the road
to get on the school bus: |
 |
Stay away from the road 10
feet or 10 giant steps. |
 |
When the driver signals that
it is safe to cross, your should
look left, right and left
to make sure that all
the cars have stopped. |
 |
As you cross in front of the
bus, look at the driver. If you can see the driver the driver can
see you. |
 |
When boarding the bus use the
handrail. |
 |
Move quickly to your seat. |
 |
Sit down quickly and quietly. |
 |
Hold onto your backpack, band
instrument or other items that you have brought on the bus. |
 |
You should take your backpack
off your back and hold it in your lap. Do not sit on the backpack
or any instrument. |
 |
No items may block the aisle
or any exit. |
 |
Face forward. |

| When getting off
the bus: |
 |
Stay seated until the bus
comes to a complete stop. |
 |
Do not push or play when you
are on your way down the aisle. |
 |
You should use the handrails
when getting off the bus. |
 |
Do not jump over the steps,
take each step one at a time. |
 |
Watch your straps,
drawstrings and any other clothing that might get caught in the door or
handrail. |
 |
You should glance back toward
the rear of the bus before you step off the bus. (By glancing back
to the rear of the bus, you can make sure that no cars are coming around
the bus.) |
 |
If you have to cross the road
after you get off the school bus: |
 |
Walk 10 giant steps out and
away from the front of the bus. |
 |
When the driver signals that
it is safe to cross, walk across the front of the bus and stop before
crossing and
look left, right and left
to make sure that all of the cars have stopped. |
 |
As you cross in front of the
bus, look at the driver. If you can see the driver the driver can
see you. |

| This sign means
you are near a crosswalk in a school zone. |
 |
When schools are opening in
the morning and closing in the afternoon, the area around them is very
busy and crowded. There will be many children using the crosswalk. |
 |
Automobiles, bikers and
skaters must stop to allow people in the crosswalk to cross the street. |
 |
Students must look carefully
to the
left, then right and
then left again before
they cross the street. |

| The area in
light blue and light grey are the most dangerous area's around a school bus.
The bus driver and other cars can not see you in these areas. The
black area is the area that cars pass the school bus. This is the area
that you should watch left, right and left for cars that might try to pass
the school bus. |

Be at the bus stop early, at
least 5 minutes before the scheduled time. |
 |
You will only be picked up
and dropped off at your designated bus stop. |
 |
Wait for the bus in a safe
place - 10 giant steps or 10 feet from the road and the bus. |
 |
Do not load or unload until
the driver motions you that it is safe. |
 |
Sit down as soon as possible. |
 |
Stay seated at all times.
"Back to Back" and "Bottom to Bottom". Take off your backpack and
put it in your lap. Put your instrument in your lap. (If
your instrument does not fit, because it is too large, a parent must
take the instrument to school.) |
 |
No instrument or backpack may
block the aisle or any exit. |
 |
Keep hands, arms, head and
all body parts inside the bus at all times. |
 |
Listen to the bus driver for
instructions. Driver may assign seats. |
 |
If you drop something
anywhere around the bus, do not pick it up. Ask the driver for
help. |
 |
if the driver honks the horn while you are loading or unloading and look
at the driver for directions. |
 |
You may not bring any of the
following items on the bus; No live or dead animals, objects with
sharp edges or school projects with loose items. Matches,
cigarette lighters or any glass containers are permitted. NO
POCKET KNIVES, SWITCHBLADES OR OTHER TYPES OF WEAPONS ARE ALLOWED. |

Do not eat or drink of the
bus. Gum is not allowed on any school bus. |
 |
You are not allowed to use
pens, pencils or any other sharp objects on the bus. |

| Every student in
the Conroe Independent School District must have an assigned seat on the
bus. In case of an
accident the bus driver must be able to give a seating chart to the people
that come to help.
It also helps the bus driver
to keep track of who is on the bus each day. |
|

| Only in case of
a last minute emergency! You must get a bus pass from your teacher or
someone else at your school. The bus drivers will not let you on a bus
