C-2 Compliance

Going the extra mile to protect our environment

For the second year in a row,Conroe Independent School District’s Transportation Department has received its Compliance Commitment (C2) Partnership award from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).  This achievement signifies that the Conroe Transportation Department is 100% compliant with environmental regulations for its industry.  This accomplishment is significant because each of the four Transportation Shop Maintenance and/or Fueling Facilities is located adjacent to District Schools.  Our efforts will help protect the environment, but more importantly the safety of our students. The C2 program is recognized (including the 1 year inspection exemption) by the State, many local programs, and the Environmental Protection Agency - Region 6.

GRANTS
Toyota Grant
"Clean Buses for Kids"

WiWith the approval of the Conroe Independent School Disctrict School Board, the Transportation Department is pleased to announce it has been awarded the Toyota Clean Buses for Kids Grant. This grant will allow us to retrofit up to 112 of our buses which will help reduce particulate emissions (black smoke coming from tailpipes) coming from our buses. The amount awarded is $746,144.00. All of our students will benefit with the awarding of this grant. Our first and foremost responsibility is to the safe transporting of our students from their homes to their schools.

H-GAC Grant
"Clean Cities, Clean Vehicles"

In an effort to help Texas conform to the State Implementation Plan (SIP) for air quality attainment, our department has applied for and been awarded the “ Clean Cities , Clean Vehicles” grant for a total of $912,000.00. The primary goal of the Houston-Galveston Area Clean Vehicle Program is to reduce the emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx), volatile organic compounds (VOC) and particulate matter (PM) emissions from our air. With the awarding of this grant, Conroe Independent School District 's Department of Transportation will be able to purchase vehicles which will meet these air quality standards, thereby improving the quality of air our students and drivers are exposed to on a daily basis as they are transported to and from school.

Our Department strives, on a daily basis, to make your child's ride on our buses, a safe and enjoyable experience.
