Q:  Do I need to update to ETrust version 8?
A:  Check the ETrust icon in your system tray.  If it is dark blue (or not there), it is extremely important that you update to the latest version of the ETrust Antivirus software IMMEDIATELY.

Troubleshooting

*If you are unable to unzip the ETrust update file or to run the wds.bat file after unzipping, try clicking Start>Shut Down>Log Off, then log in to the machine as Administrator before starting the update process.  (Check TchrTechHelp of Tech Liaison for the password.)

*If you receive a message regarding the "R Drive" or see a "Local Host" error message, log in as Administrator and re-run the process.

*If you cannot run the .bat file after unzipping the .zip file, locate this file, and run it instead:
E:\ETUpdate\etrust81_install\English\Bin\Win32\install.

*If you are unable to access the infected machine  and run the ETrust update, please create a repair ticket for an on-site repair or re-image the machine in place.

*If your computer is stuck in the endless reboot loop, or is inaccessible due to permissions errors, please follow the below directions to restore your computer, THEN install ETrust.

1.  While the computer is booting, before the Windows screen appears, hit F8 continuously on the keyboard until the boot options appear.
2.  Choose to enter the computer in "Safe Mode with command prompt."
3.  At the C: prompt, type:  %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
4.  Hit the Enter key on the keyboard.
5.  The machine will offer the System Restore options.  Choose a date from a month ago (or earlier).  Any date previous to a month ago that is shown as an option will be fine.  Click Next, then click Next again.  Wait for the restore point to load.
6.  Allow the computer to restart, then follow the directions above to install ETrust version 8.
