Materials: index cards, pictures, storage box, recording sheets

Purpose: To provide children with opportunities to practice alphabetizing words to the first or second letter.

How it looks: The student selects cards randomly and arranges them in alphabetical order. Before recording, he or she has a friend check the work. This way, two students are learning. The student then writes the words on the recording sheet and turns it into the centers basket for the teacher to check.
