Writing Station
Materials: small blank books,
various kinds of paper, pencils, markers, scissors, glue, stapler, staple
remover, dictionaries, folders
Purpose: To give children the opportunity to practice process writing through self-selected topics.
How it looks: Children write
in response to any kind of reading in which they have been engaged, their
own experiences, current events, retell stories, or write their own version
of stories. Each child may be in a different stage of the writing process.
Unfinished work is stored in the child's folder at the writing center.
Finished work is turned in the center basket to share with the teacher.
