The Kodàly method, along with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, is the curriculum implemented in the elementary music program. Elementary, intermediate, middle, and high school performing arts directors implement state adopted texts and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. These organizations actively participate in competition throughout the year.

As a result of the CISD's commitment to excellence in performing arts, students in our band, choir, orchestra, theatre, and music programs have earned individual and group awards at the district, regional, and state levels in contests sponsored by organizations such as the Texas Music Educator’s Association (T.M.E.A), and University Interscholastic League (U.I.L.).

In addition to competing, the performing arts organizations present concerts, plays, musicals, recitals throughout the school year. Well attended, these organizations give our community an opportunity to observe and support the students at their best. Especially notable are the district-wide major events hosted by the performing arts in Conroe are the Super-Half TimeShow, U.I.L. Marching Festival, and Pre-U.I.L. Band Concert and Sight-reading adjudication, Intermediate Solo and Ensemble, and Intermediate Honor Band.
