 Expectations: Expectations for the reading curriculum are clearly articulated and aligned within and across grade levels.

 Allocation of Resources: CISD supports the implementation of the Literacy Plan through allocation of resources.

 Development of Staff: Reading instruction in CISD is supported by comprehensive staff development.

 Success: Students in CISD will read on grade level by the end of third grade and to continue proficiency in reading at each grade level thereafter.

 

CISD READS Literacy Model Goals

 

·       To provide the strategies and support for all students (with no differences as to student groups) to read and comprehend on level by the end of third grade and to continue proficiency in reading at each grade level thereafter.

 

·       To provide the strategies and support for all students (with no differences to student groups) to develop writing using the writing process and implementing the Six Traits of Writing for instruction and assessment at a grade appropriate level.

 

Reading Aloud and Thinking Together,  Shared Reading,  Guided Reading

and Strategic Reading are a few of the reading components of the effective

instructional practices of CISD.  Literacy is a priority in CISD!
